The Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić announced on the television “Informer” on 12 of September that early parliamentary elections could be organized in April, May, or December 2026.

I would like it to happen in December next year. I will resign from the presidency a little earlier, before I reach 10 years in the position; I can no longer be president. So that we all can go together to honest elections in December. By December next year, people will be able to see what we will accomplish,” Vučić said.

When asked who Serbia is fighting in the “colour revolution,” he responded that this is a struggle without faces, emotions, plans, programs, and ideas, and he emphasized that its end is near.

According to him, the main organizers of the mass anti-government protests come from outside Serbia.
„The main organizer comes from outside. They worked on networking and gathering. They created a student network and a children’s network, which is frightening, destroying the elementary values of our society. These are members of various intelligence agencies from several countries. We know of at least three countries that were particularly involved and their intelligence networks“, Vucic pointed out.

Comments: For the past 10 months, the demands of the massive protests for a transparent investigation of the tragedy in Novi sad have transformed into a call for early elections.

Recently, a representative of the Bulgarian diplomatic society analysed on Bulgarian National television the behaviour of Aleksandar Vučić, stating that there should be no expectation for the current Serbian president to leave power after his term as head of state. He recalled that Vučić started his career at the top of the state as Prime Minister, and what Aleksandar Vučić is currently proposing is the retaining power in another position. Clearly, Aleksandar Vučić’s visit to China has given him new strength.

From the other side, there is no opposition in Serbia at the moment, that seriously threatens Aleksandar Vučić’s party in any parliamentary elections, so the opposition should be also okay with elections in December next year, after Vučić’s resignation as president.

Vučić always calmly announces elections. During the 13 years of his rule, there have been more snap elections than regular ones. This is his normal political technology, which has always worked so far. But it should be borne in mind that his long rule causes fatigue among Serbs, who are accustomed to changes in government. And in the fall, the protests will not only continue, but will erupt with renewed vigore.
