According to some Serbian media, including B92, the Serbia’s president Aleksandar Vučić stated that an enormous progress has been achieved on constructions at the EXPO project site in Surčin, where the specialized international exhibition “EXPO 2027” will be held next year.

“Serbia’s National Pavilion would be the crown jewel of the entire project. The Serbian EXPO will be the best, the most beautiful, and the most successful. EXPO brings us GDP growth, higher salaries, and pensions. This is the largest construction site in Southeast Europe” said the President during the visit and inspection of the construction works at the EXPO project on 15 of May this year.

Alexander Vučić added that the buildings would be completed in July, after which furnishing would begin immediately, and everything would be equipped by September, since the first delegations are expected to arrive that month to work on their pavilions.

Finance Minister Siniša Mali said that 700,000 square meters are being built at the EXPO site and more than 3,500 workers and about 540 different machines and pieces of equipment are on the EXPO construction site every day and that most of them are foreign workers.

The expectations of Belgrade are that EXPO will attract the greatest attention worldwide. It will have the highest number of visitors. There are already confirmation that dozens of presidents will come and Belgrade is becoming the world, already by the end of 2026.

There will be a lot of parking places but also seven special transport lines for EXPO.

The United States of America has officially confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, Finance Minister Siniša Mali announced on Instagram. “The agreement on U.S. participation was signed by Sarah Rogers, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy at the U.S. State Department”.

Serbian President uses every forum and every possibility to promote the EXPO-27.

On 18-th of May, during his address at the 13th World Urban Forum in Baku, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić stated that: “As hosts of EXPO 2027, we will provide a platform for the promotion of more than 140 countries around the world, which will present their creative and innovative solutions to the world, from music to sports. At the same time, we are also proud of the fact that EXPO 2027 in Belgrade will provide an opportunity to showcase concrete innovative solutions that can help solve traffic problems, improve mobility, and increase the quality of life for citizens, including new generations of electric aircraft and smart transport systems,” Vučić said.

Comments: EXPO 27 is emerging as an event of particular importance for Serbia. And seeing the commitment of the current president Vučić to this event, it is hard to imagine how just a few months from now Vučić will no longer be president and will not have a leading role. All of this leads us to the thought that Aleksandar Vučić would not invest so much effort and personal commitment in EXPO 27 if he did not intend to continue his presence at the highest level of power in Serbia.
